Minding Your Mind was honored to have been named an Official Charity Partner for the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon, the 9th year we have been designated this privileged association.
Team Minding Your Mind for 2025 is made up of 10 individuals, each of whom has a personal story of why the mission of Minding Your Mind connects with them and inspired them to run the TCS NYC Marathon. Collectively, Team Minding Your Mind will raise more than $40,000 for mental health education and suicide prevention programs throughout the country. We are so grateful for their dedication to this cause and confidence in our programs.
There are four who are still actively fundraising: Courtney, Henry, Jacob, and Sandra. If you are considering making a donation to Minding Your Mind this year, please help these runners reach their goals.
Jacob Lui is currently a clinical psychology graduate student. As a former middle school teacher and aspiring pediatric psychologist, he views representing Minding Your Mind as an incredible opportunity for him to be more involved in mental health advocacy, specifically in the areas of suicide prevention and addressing mental health stigma among minority and underserved communities. “I’m running the NYC Marathon to show that no matter what we face, we can overcome hard things, while raising $3,500 to bring life-saving mental health education to schools and communities.” Donate to Courtney and read more of her story.
“I’m proud to be running the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon with Team Minding Your Mind. As a school counselor at a Title I school in New York City, I work with students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Every day, I witness the power of mental health support and how transformative it is when students feel safe, seen, and heard. I’ve walked beside them through moments of crisis, celebrated their growth, and watched them build confidence, resilience, and joy.
Running has been part of my life for years, but training for a marathon this past year has connected me to myself in a way nothing else has. When I run, I enter a deep meditative state where I am able to find space for reflection, clarity, and peace. I’ve struggled with anxiety, and whether I’m running 13, 18, or 26.2 miles, I’m reminded that I am in control of me. Each mile becomes a powerful affirmation of my strength, my breath, and my ability to keep moving forward.
After finishing the Boston Marathon in April, I didn’t think another race would come this soon (or maybe ever). But when the opportunity arose to run with Minding Your Mind, it was an easy yes.
Minding Your Mind’s mission using storytelling to open up honest conversations around mental health is something I care deeply about. They help people recognize signs, understand symptoms, and, most importantly, learn how to ask for help.
Like many, I’ve faced my own mental health challenges and walked beside friends and family through theirs. Every mile I run is for them, for my students, and for anyone who has ever struggled in silence.
This November, I’ll be running the New York City Marathon for something bigger than myself — one step, one borough, one mile at a time.” Donate to Sarah and read more of her story.
Kathleen Fentress Tripp is known to many by her nickname, “Callie”. She is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, working with her patients to support their mental wellness. Kathleen decided to run her first ever Marathon this year in memory of her brother-in-law Tyler who died five years ago. Drawing from her professional and personal connection to mental health, she’s running to raise awareness and support suicide prevention efforts.
