He had a sense of humor that never left him. He had a smile best described as infectious…one that arguably, perhaps begrudgingly, got him out of hot water more times than one can count. He had a love of reading and knowledge, music and lyrics, the environment and animals.  Each of these passions played a part in shaping the man he grew to be and the values he carried with him each day. 

Although not enough, 26 years of shared memories, laughter and love to forever carry with us. 

We discovered Minding Your Mind because of the 2023 TCS New York City marathon. LJ’s brother, Kyle, took on the challenge as a way to honor LJ’s memory. 26.2 miles for his 26 years of life. Running alongside Team Minding Your Mind was both an exciting and deeply personal endeavor. There was no distance he wouldn’t run if it meant even one more day, one more conversation. With a mission dedicated to ending stigma and destructive behaviors associated with mental health issues, moving away from a crisis-based response to prevention through education, it resonated loudly. Support that LJ could have benefited from during his life. But now a way to honor his memory and help those today and beyond.
