Program Overview
Minding Your Mind’s primary objective is to provide mental health education to adolescents, teens, and young adults, as well as parents, teachers, and school administrators. We strive to encourage conversations about these issues that may be inspired by our presence yet continue long after our programs have taken place. The programs we have developed meet a variety of needs, all of which support our overall goal of reducing the stigma and destructive behaviors often associated with mental health challenges. These efforts move away from crisis-based response to prevention through contact-based education in a school or community setting.

2018-2019 Progress Report
Minding Your Mind has experienced significant growth in recent years. The strength of our offerings, the breadth of our outreach, and the depth of our impact is outlined in this progress report.

Young Adult Speaker Program
By far our most requested offering, the Minding Your Mind Speaker Program delivers professionally-crafted presentations, through which students hear stories of hope and recovery from young adult speakers who successfully and productively cope with their own mental health challenges.

Just Talk About It
Just Talk About It is an introduction to mental health program that talks about mental health to the point of crisis. This interactive presentation is designed to train both adults and youth on how to assist adolescents who exhibit signs of anxiety, depression, self-harm, and suicide ideation. Participants will gain an understanding of promoting factual knowledge, encouraging discussion, and easing communication.

QPR Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention
QPR Gatekeeper Training is an advanced suicide prevention program that teaches individuals how to manage a crisis situation where someone is actively experiencing suicide ideation. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer, and the objective is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training.

QPR meets the requirements for listing in the National Registry of Evidence-based Practices and Policies (NREPP), which is required training for educators in many states.

Introduction to Mindfulness: Planting the Seeds of Well-Being
Introduction to Mindfulness consists of three main presentations with the option to plan for and implement additional programming. The program is designed to empower teachers and staff to cultivate a mindful school community. The series provides background on the history and benefits of mindfulness, and instruction on how to introduce practices into a classroom. Schools have the option to plan for and implement additional programming, including a session on coping with teacher stress and how to create a mindful team.

Corporate Education Program
Minding Your Mind’s Corporate Education Program is a 90-minute workshop designed to educate adults on basic mental health challenges and how they impact daily life in the workplace, at home, and during interactions with others. Supporting the instructional piece are hands-on learning exercises to provide guidance on communication techniques to employ when discussing mental health issues, as well as positive coping skills that can be used to alleviate stress in any situation. Appropriate for small businesses to larger corporations, this program is facilitated by one of Minding Your Mind’s professional clinicians and includes a presentation by one of our young adult speakers to attach real-life experiences to the topics being discussed.
