Jeremy David Hunn Fund

Jeremy David Hunn (1/4/1997 – 7/5/2012) was a lovable young boy who took pride in being the oldest grandchild on both sides of his family. He loved his little brother Noah and his many cousins, aunts and uncles. Jeremy’s parents, Shari and Bob, never had to ask their son to call his grandparents – he did so instinctively and Jeremy loved spending time with them as much as they did with him.

As a small boy, he discovered reading, which fueled his wild imagination. At the age of three, Jeremy met his life-long best friend Brett at summer camp. Teachers and adults were always drawn to Jeremy and his infectious laugh. He enjoyed fencing and lifting weights. From the time he was young, Jeremy bonded with girls and built terrific friendships with a few. At 15 1/2, upset about a break-up, Jeremy’s mind took him to a dark place where he did not see his potential and he made a poor decision. An accidental overdose of Benadryl resulted in his untimely death.

Jeremy’s father, Bob, quickly reached out to Minding Your Mind to find the support he so desperately needed. Not soon after, Bob inquired about how he could help the young organization and its mental health education programs. He believed the work of Minding Your Mind could decrease the chance of another young family having to endure the unimaginable pain of losing a child, as his had. Bob felt that if Jeremy had heard a story of hope and recovery, he may have made a different choice.

Bob Hunn passed away September 4, 2018 at the age of 57, just as his youngest son Noah started college. Six painful years after losing her son, and after the devastating loss of her husband, Shari is finally ready to talk about suicide in order to help other families. As such, Shari and Noah created The Jeremy David Hunn Fund at Minding Your Mind to raise awareness of mental health challenges and suicide prevention.

The Jeremy David Hunn Fund will provide mental health education programs to needy schools in the Hunns’ community. Gifts to the Jeremy David Hunn Fund are tax-deductible, as allowed by law.
